FASHION icon Mustafa Hassanali on Saturday night unveiled his ‘Namaste 2007’ collection in the city, in a show described by many of his fans as his best yet.

In a colourful and well-attended show, Hassanali showcased a glorious collection, fused in Indian and African design, where saffron, cinnamon, cumin and chili colours dominated the night.

His collection, without doubt, put Tanzanian fashion designing on the world map, comprising elegant saris, an assortment of casual dresses and evening gowns, as well as men clothing in warm colours.

The enthusiastic crowd got a chance to see her award winning outfit in the 2006 Redd’s African Fashion Design Awards.
Amour for the night also designed a stunning outfit of Maasai ‘kikoi’ red colours worn by the former Miss Tanzania, who was the presenter of the ‘Namaste 2007’ show, Nancy Sumari.

Hassanali received a three-minute applause as Nancy introduced the brain behind the show, who expressed the hope that Tanzanians would now have reason to buy clothes made in the country.
