Ja RuleBongo5 has received information that Hip Hop star Ja Rule will be performing at the most popular event in Tanzania, Fiesta 2006 organized by the experts in entertainment, Clouds FM. He will be accompanied by other members of Murder Inc.

As the flagship artist for producer Irv Gotti’s Def Jam-affiliated Murder Inc. label, Ja Rule became the rap industry’s most commercially successful artist during the early 2000s, working closely with the hitmaker and his stable of talent.

Ja initially won over a sizable following with Venni Vetti Vecci (1999), his rather hardcore debut album modeled largely after the style of rugged thug rap then popularized by DMX and the Ruff Ryder collective. In particular, “Holla Holla” became a breakout hit, but in retrospect it was a minor success relative to what Ja accomplished a year later with his follow-up album, Rule 3:36 (2000). On this album, Gotti juxtaposed the rapper’s thuggish style with a trio of radio-friendly vixens — Christina Milian, Lil’ Mo, and Vita — and produced three enormous hit singles: “Between Me and You,” “I Cry,” and “Put It on Me.” These duets established the template for Ja’s following album, Pain Is Love (2001), which featured yet more chorus-singing divas, this time Jennifer Lopez (“I’m Real”) and Ashanti (“Always on Time”), as well as a similarly styled interpolation of Stevie Wonder’s “Do I Do” (“Livin’ It Up”) featuring Case on the hook. By 2002, Ja alone had brought Gotti’s Murder Inc. label into the national spotlight and helped break successive artists from the label, most notably Ashanti, who collaborated with him on “Down 4 U,” yet another chart-topping hit. A backlash mounted around the year 2003, as upstart rapper 50 Cent began hurling numerous disses at Ja. Increasingly susceptible to the criticism, he returned with as much vengeance as he could muster on 2003’s Blood in My Eye and the following year’s R.U.L.E. Exodus, a best-of with a couple new tracks, was released in late 2005.

Mina Nawe

The South African group Mina Nawe will alos be perofrming at the Fiesta 2006. Late 2005 saw the exciting release of the second album from this awesome trio of talent (CARLO; MAZET and MANCHILD). The album, NJALO, features the talent of featured guests LADY JAYDEE from Tanzania (their BRENDA – she sells upward of 500 000 units per title released) as well as Speedy (who needs no introduction to the South African market).

CARLO (aka Nutti) – beginning his music career with a group called “D-Style” who were nominated for a SAMA award in 1998, he went on to form another group “Onus” in 2000 whilst studying music at the “PWV Music College”.

From his bedroom studio Carlo has assisted many up and coming township musos to get their first demos together. He has produced songs for Longwe Thwala (Chicco’s son); Doc Shebeleza and Kyllex (the first single of the new album “This Is My Life” is one of his). He produced this album in conjunction with D-REX as well as composing much of the material therein… Plenty of experience and a great feel for music make him a huge asset to the group.

MANCHILD (aka Candid) – After studying at the “PWV Music College”, where he met Carlo, MANCHILD began his career as a co-songwriter with Kyllex, with whom he worked on four albums, amongst them the SAMA award winning GHETTO HOUSE BEATS. This talent went on to write songs for Ashaan’s debut album, also nominated for a SAMA award. He has written a song for Lebo Mathosa, co-composed “Lizo Jika” (one of DJ Cleo’s favourites). He has also worked with gospel artist “Jay” who features with REVOLUTION.

MAZET –The baby of the outfit in years only, with a voice as strong as consummate performers twice her age, MAZET began singing at school and in church choirs. She formed the group “New Creation” which toured and performed around the country extensively performing to churches and the public at large. Introduced to her two “partners in crime” by a mutual friend, she has never looked back, holding her own with two phenomenal talents.
