Remembering the little things our fathers taught us

Most of us think of our fathers as tough disciplinarians or people who can be overlooked if viewed through societal stereotypes.Yet, many of us have learnt some of life’s best lessons through our fathers.I hereby sample a few lessons of what our fathers teach us.

Prayer; It is what is considered most important for it breaks all doubts in life.Through daily prayer they say that you need to give thanks to God for life blessings. It is through prayer that we thank God they taught us how to eat, tell the truth, compose yourself before people and trust in God plans by being confident in all things.Further more, we become blessings and vessels of honor in peoples life as we walk in His goodness.

Leadership; As head of family they lead by example. We should always acknowledge, respect and appreciate the role of people in  our life.No matter how small they contribute.Humility and kindness  improves the overall outcome.Indeed, learning to submit to authority teaches one how to be a great leader when its your time to lead.

Support; Even when no one believes in you the support they give you warms you up and opens your eyes to your destiny. Some may be led by decency of lies that come through but later on they hold our hands and become our cheerleaders. Therefore in the future we are to encourage and support our children and believe in their valid  goals.

Be candid; Despite the religious upbringing, they teach us to air your opinions with character.Speaking out our minds without fear is key.Nothing haunts than the things left unsaid must always be applied so that things may not fall apart. However we should do it in a civilized manner.

Discipline; I may not be a disciplined daughter but what I believe in character.Like any other parent, however instilling discipline becomes a primary objective to all.Character is what will always sustain you.Character must be first then discipline, they say for you to succeed. For it caters to how you respond, how you treat those you think cannot help you and not how you react to those who depress you for your weakness.

Stop and listen; When it comes to feedback. They teach us to take a moment to stop and listen. We do not actually have to respond but think twice before speaking. As we listen we can either pick what is good and ignore what may not add value in your life.We also know that our opinions must not be always be the best for people to agree.

Listening to yourself; ‘Trust your inner self’ .Making important decisions are based on our conscience which turn out to be right on most occasions. This also comes forth by being independent and confident in what you stand for.

Foremost among these, personally the most important thing I have learnt from my father is to serve, to always count my blessings and happily never cry over a walking hormone that claims to love me then dumps me.Lastly to sit pretty, Think hard as my writing makes a difference in your life.Happy Fathers day.Cheers!
