Rita Ora to perform Avicii tribute at MTV Awards
Rita Ora is reportedly set to perform at MTV’s Video Music Awards in tribute to her late friend and DJ Avicii, who died aged 28 on April 20.
According to The Sun, the Your Song hitmaker, 27, will belt out the pair’s hit single Lonely Together on August 20, which served as the Swedish musician’s last song before he passed away.
A source told the publication: ‘Rita was hit hard by Avicii’s death and she knew she wanted to do something special to properly celebrate him and his legacy.’
Speaking about the singer’s previous tribute performances, the insider continued: ‘She has spoken about him on stage while performing the song but she was thrilled when the VMAs said they would like her to do something at the ceremony.’‘Details have been kept secret but it will not be a straightforward performance’, they added.
