Veronica Lugenzi is a Tanzanian fashion designer who was among the few selected designers to showcase at the DAR FASHION FESTIVAL in 2011 and went on to showcase at Mama Asia Idaraous ‘KHANGA ZA KALE which she was honoured to dress Miss Universe 2012, Winfrida Dominique. And now she is venturing into music by introducing her debut single, Kila Siku.
“Knowing that I can sing and singing at home events wasn’t fun anymore. I went off and did some demos from Rihanna-unfaithful, Thalia- I want you e.t.c,” she says.
My brother was my voice coach while recording the demos at home and later uploading them on my Soundcloud account which i joined in 2010. Kipindi hicho Bullet-Quick Racka ndo ulikuwa hit jijini, kuangalia producer Marco Chali, so I went on and sent him my demos and he was pleased with my voice, went on and met him for the first time and record a demo but it never matured to a track. I left it there in 2011 and got a job and hired while I kept on doing demos.
I became friends with few Bongo Flava producers based in Dar while I had a thought of joining THT but it died. I never went and try out there instead kept on with the demos until late 2013 when randomly talking to KGT SHADEED, we all know him making hits like ALIKIBA-CINDERELA + OMMY DIMPOZ-NAI NAI, DIAMOND-NIMPENDE NANI e.t.c.
Then I asked if we could do a Bongo Flava track and he was cool with it. It took off some days until 1 day in December 2013 when we came up with a beat and wrote the track on that very same day and BANG!! Looking back it has never been an easy road but imma believer..
