Steven Kanumba: 40 Days since his passing, mystery still surrounds his death

Today marks 40 days since the veteran Tanzanian actor, Steven Charles Kanumba passed away. It is said that the actor sustained a head injury after slipping and falling, which as reported by the Coroner resulted in loss of oxygen supply to the brain and finally death.

The famous actor was said to have been in his home at Sinza Vatican, in the company of his alleged girlfriend, fellow actor Elizabeth ‘Lulu’ Micheal. The scenario painted thus far is one where these secret lovers had a misunderstanding which lead to a physical altercation that left Kanumba dead and Lulu, whom as it turns out is only 17 years old, fleeing the scene in panic.

Kanumba’s doctor of seven years has confirmed reports that Kanumba, who was also a good friend of his, had told him of Lulu and he was aware that the two had an ongoing relationship to the point where Kanumba had asked him to keep treating Lulu and his mother since he was scheduled to travel to Ghana and thereafter Hollywood. Kanumba had signed an acting deal ten days prior to his death, and that would have seen him be away for not less than three months.

The doctor confirms the actor was drinking the night of his demise, Jack Daniels to be specific, and so was Lulu and that the two had planned to go out for a night in the town before it turned sour.

It has come to surface though, that Kanumba was physically assaulting Lulu after finding her speaking on the phone to an unidentified male and even got to a point where he started usinga a panga to hit her. This confirms the allegations made by the two members of parliament, Halima Mdee(CDM) and Ester Bulaya(CCM) that Lulu may have pushed Kanumba as an attempt at self defense against the actor, and that she had sustained injuries from a panga that Kanumba was using to hit her with.

Kanumba received a heroes burial with over 25,000 Tanzanians in attendance and Lulu was transfered from Oysterbay Police Station to Segerea prison where she was formally charged with the murder of Steven Charles Kanumba,where her case is being heard by the kisutu Magistrate court.

The family of the late Kanumba have also faced their fair share of additional drama since Kanumba’s death, with everything from a lady surfacing claiming to have bore Kanumba a son, and others attempting suicide upon hearing of the death of the Tanzanian Film actor, to continous reports daily appearing in the tabloids of speculation sorounding the actors demise.

Kanumba’s father, who didnt attend his sons funeral due to his ailing health, is said to have not had a good relationship with his son. But has explained that even though their relationship was strained, Kanumba never stopped taking care of him and sent him money to Shinyanga whenever he needed. Kanumba had publicy spoken of his sour relations with his father and that he loved and was more fond his mother.

Kanumba’s mother and father who havent spoken in years, and still aren’t speaking, are now faced with the dilemma of what to do next with all the legacy Kanumba has left behind. There have been reports that Kanumba’s mother has sold some of her late sons belongings, but they are claims she vehemently denies. It is also said that there are some of the lates brothers and sisters who are interested in the acting business and may just take up where he left off.

Elizabeth Micheal, is still under investigation and has already appeared in front of a judge three times. The case keeps being postponed pending further investigations into the cause of death.
