Teacher charged with raping school girl aged 14…

A teacher at Fukayosi Primary School in Bagamoyo District, Coast Region has been arraigned for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl student.

A teacher at Fukayosi Primary School in Bagamoyo District, Coast Region has been arraigned for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl student.

 

Public prosecutor Assistant Inspector of Police Edward Gweshimba named the accused person before the Bagamoyo District Court as John Donart (32) of Fuikayose village.

 

The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the offence at 10 am on February 22 at the village, causing the girl immense pain and psychological trauma.

 

The accused denied the charge before senior district magistrate Cyprian Mheka. He was released on 1m/- bond and one surety.

 

The case will come up for mention next Wednesday.

 

Meanwhile, James Anthony (34) of Zinga village in Bagamoyo district appeared in the same court charged with two counts of breaking into a house and stealing domestic appliances.

 

The prosecution alleged that on December 18 last year the accused broke into the residential house of one Herena Kibena at Maghomeni village in the district with intent to commit a felony.

 

In the second count, the accused is alleged to have stolen various appliances valued at 5m/- property of Kibena.

 

The accused, however, denied both charges and was released on bail until March 28 when the case will come up for hearing.
