THE police are investigating on the role of three more officials of Nida Textile Mills Tanzania Limited who allegedly participated in torturing and confining in a container one of their employees, Mr Kheri Khalfa.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Charles Kenyela named the officials as Sabrin Chaki, a Pakistan national, Yahaya Said Omari and Juma Said Madenge, who are both Tanzanians.

He told Principal Resident Magistrate Sivangilwa Mwangesi at the Kisutu Resident Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the trio would be joined in the case facing five Pakistani officials after completion of investigations.

“Two of the officials have been arrested by the police and recorded their statement and granted them bail. The third official is still at large. We are seeking for adjournment of the case to give us more time to trace him,” ACP Kenyela requested.

The magistrate granted the prosecution’s request and adjourned the case to June 15 for another mention.

According to the prosecution, the employee had mentioned the trio as the ones who tortured him when he was testifying against the Pakistani officials on April 10, this year.

In the case, the Pakistani officials are charged with torturing their employee, Mr Khalfa and confining him in the container for about two hours.

They are Habib Ghani (30), a salesman, Muhamad Tufail (25), a storekeeper, Shahzad Ishteaq (25), a slender machine operator. Inam Khan (25), a master machine finishing operator and Atif Muhammad (30), a machine operator.
