Nancy Sumari opened the show by taking the audience through Ally Rehmtullah documentary which was made during Ally’s visit to Masaki and Mzenga schools in Kisarawe region which was the beneficial of the Fashion for education event.

Speaking to the attending audience during the show Ally Rehmtullah said this project was officially launched at the same hotel back in February by the Deputy Minister for Education Mrs Mwahiza Mwantumu.

“When I went to Kisarawe, I was so much touched with the condition at the schools I visited. The place looked really miserable, I couldn’t help than think of a better way to chip in my effort and at least be part of the revolution. There were no proper window, ceilings are not properly fit, and no laboratory at all. This was making it hard for the students who are aspiring to be scientists. I also found out that the whole school which had 400 students was fewer than 7 teachers to which, only 4 teaches regularly”.

“Reflecting back to how I struggled to study and get to where I am now, I promised to sponsor a student part of his school welfare so as he/she can make a difference. Even though when I approach the Kisarawe authority I found out that there was a plan to fund a bigger education project which needed a lot of money. That’s how the whole idea came about and I felt obliged to do something bigger that will contribute towards the success of many students” said Ally.

Addressing the audience the chairman of the Kisarawe education development fund Prof Babu thanked Ally Remtullah for coming out at the right time to show his support in making Kisarawe a better place for education. Prof Babu gave a brief history of the project telling the audience the main objective of elevating the education standards of Kisarawe. Indeed it is our desire to see more educated graduates from our very own schools that will prosper the development of our community.

Prof Babu said looking at the present situation the infrastructure does not support quality education at all. Prof Babu referred to a case where teachers do not attend students or honor their duties due to deteriorating working conditions.

As a chairman and my entire committee takes this opportunity to thank every one who took part to make a benefit fashion show a successful event.
Before the end of the show two pieces of magnificent design each piece from David Trale South Africa) and Taibo Bacar from Mozambique were put on auction which fetched 1. 3 million Shillings.

The show was spiced by the performance from THT dancing group and was sponsored by Double Tree by Hilton, Clouds Fm, I view, Pan African Energy wind, Mo blog and Stanbick bank.

Kudos Ally for helping out the standard of education in our country!
