Why unity among stakeholders in the music industry is desirable

First and foremost congratulations to Diamond Platnumz, Sauti Sol, Vanessa Mdee, Jose Chameleone and Super producer Cedo for Winning big last night in Lagos, Nigeria. Am looking at my instagram timeline and am amazed how Tanzania artistes are appreciating Vanessa Mdee & Diamond, Uganda Same Story.

Here in our beloved country it’s very sad we have hundreds of musicians but even a congratulatory message to our boys SAUTI SOL only few have done so.

I think this is one of the root of all other problems as an industry, it’s divided against itself cannot stand much less make progress. Even within these WhasApp groups, we still have infightings and misunderstandings over leadership.
In spite of the lack of cohesion, however, each of the ‘woods’ have their own guilds where separatism is very apparent in their dealings. It is true that we have all manners of guilds, but these are all based on the sentiments like I earlier stated.

I am persuaded to believe that our inability to come together under an umbrella is one of the reasons why we have some of the problems that detract the development of the music business in Kenya. This has resulted in loss of confidence by fans over and over again.

The inability to fight the hydra-headed monster with one voice has frustrated so many practitioners to the extent that many have jumped out and putting their money elsewhere let’s say Comedy. Comedy is rapidly growing in the Country simply because of Unity among themselves.

KENYAN ARTISTES LET’S LOVE AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER WHETHER YOU IN GOSPEL OR SECULAR!! ‘Huu Ni Mtazamo Wangu Masela Msijenge Chuki’
